The internet has been taken by storm by at-home LED face masks, and I've been researching to find one worth the investment. Dr. Pooja Talera from Kosa Wellbeing introduced me to The Light Salon's Boost LED masks while mentioning that it's one of the few LED face masks that are FDA approved. Why was I looking for an LED face mask? I've just entered my 30s and am looking for gentle ways to maintain my skin health. The red light in LED face masks increases blood circulation and collagen production without being too harsh on the skin.

Alexa Chung and Victoria Beckham swear by the mask and its claim to give brighter, tighter, and smoother skin from the first 10-minute boost. I have also snooped and seen Deepika Padukone use it on her Instagram! Laser Hair Comb For Hair Growth

I have rosacea-prone skin, which means redness, irritation, and painful bumps at any time of the year. While its reviews mentioned that it gives your skin a lit-from-within-glow with consistent usage over time, I did not expect it to calm my skin irritation. Keep in mind, that The Light Salon Boost LED mask does not have blue light; therefore, it will not target acne-causing bacteria.

While The Light Salon recommends doing LED light therapy thrice a week for at least 4-6 weeks for optimal results. After my first boost of 10 minutes, I noticed a reduction in redness, no glow, but definitely less irritated skin.

How does this work, exactly? The Light Salon Boost LED face mask has two types of light - red 633 nm light and near-infrared 830 nm light which encourage collagen production and even skin tone, respectively. Since it's not ingredient driven, it's mostly suitable for all skin types and is safe for beginners.

Regularly using a LED face mask can help lift, plump, and brighten skin over time, and it can be used as an instant glow-up or over time for anti-ageing. Plus, LED light therapy helps better absorption of topical skincare products, making it the perfect first step in your routine to be followed up with all those wholesome skincare products.

Before using the LED face mask, my skin looked rather dull and uneven, with red patches here and there. After a month of continuous usage, my complexion has more of an even skin tone, and my skin looks plumper. It feels similar to the skin I have post hydra facials.

Here's the routine I've followed over the past couple of months — I start with my iS Clinical Warming Honey Cleanser,  followed by a hyaluronic acid serum. Stay away from new products and stick to what your skin is already used to! According to Dr. Pooja Talera, you don't have to use a serum, but some lubrication always helps before putting on the LED face mask. She recommended something as basic as the One Thing Calendula or Centella extracts. That being said, avoid using thick serums or creams.

Now it's time to use the LED face mask for 10 minutes. I follow up with a spritz of pure rose water and a light layer of facial oil or moisturiser. Dr. Pooja Talera mentions, “it's the perfect time to use your active skincare, such as Vitamin C or retinol, as your skin is at its peak absorption capacity," You can do the LED light therapy 3 to 5 times a week or double dose before a big event. However, working your way up to a double dose is better until your skin is used to the treatment.

Dr. Pooja Talera mentions that regularly doing LED light therapy has also been hailed as the alternative to fillers, and many brides who used it before their wedding got great results! So while I am not someone who would opt for fillers, and as someone in their 30s, I am taking precautionary anti-ageing steps, and the LED face mask is a non-invasive way to do that. That being said, I love my laugh lines, but when did a little glow hurt anyone?
