This St. Louis Mansion Could Be Right Out of a Movie

Did you know there are $5 million dollar mansions in Missouri? I didn't.

I don't know why it surprises me, there are plenty of estates, mansions, and homes worth a million or more, so it shouldn't have. This particular mansion on Old Warson Road in St. Louis located on almost 5 acres secluded by lots of trees with a long gated driveway looks like it could be right out of a Hollywood movie.

According to the listing on Zillow, the home was built in 1926 and has been extensively renovated with many hand-crafted details. The entryway is dramatic, with a double staircase that opens into the office and a step-down living room and dining room.

There are three levels to the home which include six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and plenty of places for people to relax and hang out. The Zillow listing says the mansion comes with a living room, a family room, a den, a bonus room, and a furnished basement. Additionally, the estate includes a guest home with two bedrooms, a workout room, a media room, a patio, and a pool. Did I mention the barn and greenhouse?

What amazes me about the pictures is how much of this mansion could be used as a movie set. Parts of this home look like it was designed as a movie set, or could be used as a movie set. For example the dramatic entryway. It would be the perfect place for the detective to cool his heels while the butler goes to fetch the man of the house.

The woodwork, chandeliers, fireplaces, and how the home is furnished and decorated create many areas where a filmmaker could shoot a scene where the film's protagonists hatch a plan over a glass of whiskey.

The master bedroom provides the perfect backdrop to show the tension between a couple. Or perhaps, the scene to establish shall we say a romantic entanglement. Heck, even the bathroom off the master would work for a bubble bath scene.

What's interesting to me as I clicked through the pictures is that while much of the home and the grounds are well appointed, as you get to other areas of the home, much of the opulence gives way to a more modest look and style. I think that may be the guest house, although I'm not sure.

The mansion and grounds are currently for sale and listed by Ann Dufour Wroth and Holly F Bry from Gladys Manion, Inc. You can see the listing on Zillow and keep scrolling to check out the pictures.
